Married September 12, 1911, to Clara Elizabeth Hille of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, school teacher. Father of six sons and three daughters: Corrine, now Mrs. Geo. Hexon of Waukon, Iowa; Staff Sgt. Maurice H.; Lt. Joseph T.; Pvt. Harold D.; Cadet Nurse Norma A.; Lois E., teacher at Corning, Iowa, and Walter V. in Decorah high school; Richard A. and Charles E. H. on home farm. Attended county rural school and Breckenridge school in Decorah. Taught school 7 years; Winneshiek county Deputy Auditor 4 years; Cashier State Bank, Spring Grove, Minn., 14 years; moved with family to home farm in 1921; served 8 years in Winneshiek county Triple A office; held various community and township offices; member of Norwegian Lutheran church. Served in 44th General Assembly.

Representative from Winneshiek county, Iowa, was born November 25th, 1870, in Pleasant township, Winneshiek county. At the age of six years the family moved over into Highland township of the same county, settling on the farm which now is the representative's home. He received his early education in the rural schools and later attended Breckenridge's Decorah Institute after which he entered the teaching profession which he followed for seven years. In the fall of 1899 was appointed deputy county auditor of Winneshiek county, continuing in this work until March 1st, 1903, when he resigned and went back to the old homestead which is now his home. On October 1st, 1906, he assumed the duties of assistant cashier of the State Bank of Spring Grove, at Spring Grove, Minnesota, which position he held until March 1st, 1921. During this period the farm was run by means of a renter on shares. On September 12th, 1911, he married Miss Clara Elizabeth Hille, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. To this union has been born nine children who are all living: Corrine, Maurice, Richard, Joseph, Lois, Charles, Norma, Harold, and Walter. Mr. Langland and his family are now and for the past ten years have been living on the old farm. Members of the Lutheran church. Elected state representative in 1930. Republican in politics.
