Burt Kossuth County Born on a farm in Kossuth county June 4, 1890. Parents, Ellis and Emma Seely McWhorter. Attended rural school. Graduated Algona high school 1909, Iowa State College 1915. Taught school two years. Two years army air service World War I. Married Nellie McCorkle 1920. Have three daughters and three granddaughters. The daughters, Mrs. Frank Becker, Burt; Mrs. Robert Collett, Denver, both registered nurses; Barbara McWhorter, senior student Iowa State College. Occupation farming. Member, Presbyterian church, American Legion, Farm Bureau, Airplane Owner Pilots' Association, Iowa Flying Farmers, National Flying Farmers, Burt Lions Club, Iowa Vegetable Growers, director and secretary Iowa Institute of Cooperation, Burt Elevator and Pikeside Electric Company. Director Burt Telephone Co., township school board. Serving first term.
