Manilla Shelby County Republican Born near Newton, Jasper County, Iowa, June 8, 1887. Son of Calvin L. and Carrie (Lambert) Kerr. Married June 4, 1913, to Charlotte M. Vennink. Two daughters and a son. Graduated from Manilla high school (1904) and Iowa State College (1909). A Shelby county farmer since boyhood except for ten years spent in Wisconsin and upper Michigan following World War I. Was serving in the U.S. Army Field Artillery Officers' Training school at the close of World War I. At present owns and partly operates a farm. President of Shelby County Farm Bureau seven years, member Iowa Farm Bureau executive committee six years. Member and past post commander American Legion. Member of the Masonic lodge, Order of the Eastern Star. Served in 52nd General Assembly. Serving second term.
