Republican Born January 4, 1880, near Atlanta, Mo. Attended local schools and later graduated Ottumwa Commercial College. Veteran Spanish-American War. Married 1903 to Katherine Casada of Fairfield, who passed away in 1941. Three children, Mrs. Mary Jordan of Cincinnati, Mrs. Iril Flanders of Ottumwa, and Robert. E. Armstrong of Schenectady, N.Y. Married Clare Hale of Ottumwa in 1942. Now farming near Ottumwa. Member Farm Bureau with eight years service board of directors. Former chairman Wapello County Ration Board. Past exalted ruler and life member Elks. Charter member and past president Kiwanis Club. Masonic orders including life member Kaaba Shrine. Now on board of directors Chamber of Commerce. Chairman Wapello County Soldiers Relief Commission for past 20 years. Member Baptist church. Serving first term.
