Marengo Iowa County Republican Born January 21, 1889, on a farm near St. James, Minnesota. Moved to Manitoba, Canada, in 1898 with his parents. Attended Concordia college at St. Paul, Minnesota, from 1902-1906, and Normal school at Seward, Nebraska, from 1906 to 1908. Taught school from 1908-1943. The last 23 years in one school in Iowa county. From 1943 until January 1, 1951, was director of relief in Iowa county. Married Louise Steinkraus, is the father of five sons and two daughters. The eldest son is a Lutheran pastor, two sons are building contractors in Iowa county, one is in business in Victor, Iowa. The youngest is a sergeant major in the United States Army air force since 1947. Member and organist of Lutheran church and county chairman of March of Dimes, home service chairman of North Iowa county chapter American Red Cross. Active in all civic affairs. Serving third term.
