Served four years with army (C.E.) in European and Pacific theatres, World War II, seven years active army reserve. Married Florine McDermott of Moville, Iowa, three children: Beverly, age 9; Charles, age 7; and Carol, age 3. Engaged in practice of law and farm operation in Hancock county, at Garner, Iowa. Served as county attorney four years, town attorney for towns of Garner and Kanawha. Previous experience included farming, teaching school and construction work. Served as Hancock county Eisenhower chairman, member of Methodist church, member of and past post commander American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic lodge, Des Moines Consistory and Shrine, Rotary and Iowa Bar Association. Serving second term.
