Council Bluffs Pottawattamie County Republican Born in a log cabin in Clifton township, Grant county, Wisconsin, December 4, 1885. Educated in public schools in Grant county, Wisconsin. Graduated from high school in Boscobel, Wisconsin, 1904. Graduated with B.A. degree from Lawrence College, Appleton, Wisconsin 1911. Served as a missionary of Methodist church in India 1911-1930. Ordained 1912. Served in Iowa-Des Moines conference of the Methodist church 1931-1951. Retired in June 1951. Has lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa since June 1951 to date. Married Delia E. Scheible in Jabalpur, India, March 1, 1913. Six children born, two of whom died in infancy. Living are May E. (MacKay), Judson W., Clifford W., and Naomi L. (Teets). There are seven grandchildren. Wife died in Muscatine, Iowa September 20, 1941. Married Mrs. Sarah M. Barrett Rink July 5, 1944. She had one son, Paul L., who was killed in action over Ploesti, Rumania, August 17, 1944. Recorded in Who's Who in America in 1942, and in Biographical Encyclopedia of World 1943. First term.
