Born in Greene County, Pennsylvania, on March 10, 1808. He was a mechanic by trade. Mr. Ross was a delegate to the 1844 Iowa Constitutional Convention at Iowa City representing Washington County, and served in the 7th and 8th Legislative Assemblies. He married Sarah McClure and passed away at the age of 79 on February 24, 1888.
