Born June 29, 1776, in Washington, Pennsylvania, the son of William Inghram and Agnes Miller. He married Sarah Ankrom, with whom he moved to Tyler County, Virginia. Mr. Inghram was elected to the Tyler County State Legislature and served from 1815 to 1816 and again from 1826 to 1832. In 1834, the couple moved to Iowa Territory, where he served as a Councilor representing Des Moines County in the First and Second Legislative Assemblies. He died on September 23, 1852, in Des Moines County, Iowa.
