Died at Waukegan, Illinois, December 29, 1902, at the advanced age of 88 years. He came to Iowa at the age of 23, and the following year was chosen to the House of Representatives of the Second Legislative Assembly for the counties of Louisa and Washington. He was conspicuous for his advocacy of Iowa City as the site for the State Capitol. He married Serena D. Berry, June 24, 1840. He removed to Waukegan, Illinois, in 1846, where he afterwards resided until his death.
