Educated in the rural schools of Chickasaw County and graduated from the New Hampton public school in 1946. Engaged in farming with his father. Has one brother, Thomas G. McCracken, attorney-at-law at Geneva, Illinois. Member of the Methodist Church, Rotary, Masonic Lodge and Cedar Rapids Consistory. Served in the 57th General Assembly. Serving second term.
