Was chosen in 1956 as a Master Farmer, and in 1948 as a Master swine producer. Active in Farm Bureau, having served as county president, voting delegate and a member of the state resolutions committee. Member of the Methodist Church, Masonic lodge, Knights of Pythias lodge, Anamosa Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and Izaak Walton League. Served six years on Federal Housing Administration committee.
