Joined an Iowa unit of the 34th Infantry Division as a selectee at Camp Claiborne, La., and served with the unit through the African campaign. Served one year with G-3 Allied Force Headquarters in Algiers, Algeria, North Africa. Served Wayne County as deputy auditor and auditor for four years. Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Allerton Lodge 310. Protestant faith, attends the United Presbyterian Church. Serving third term.
