Allerton Wayne County Democrat. Born Sept. 29, 1915, and reared on farm in Wayne County near Allerton, Iowa. Attended the rural schools of Wayne County, and graduated from Allerton High School in 1933. Spent all his life on farm with exception of 49 months with the U.S. Army during World War II. Joined an Iowa unit of the 34th Infantry Division as a selectee at Camp Claiborne, La., and served with the unit through the African campaign. Served one year with G-3 Allied Force Headquarters in Algiers, Algeria, North Africa. Served Wayne County as deputy auditor and auditor for four years. Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Allerton Lodge 310. Protestant faith, attends the United Presbyterian Church. Serving third term.
