Graduated from Iowa State University with B.S. degree in 1933. Owns and operates an 850-acre farm near Clarion. President, Hagie Manufacturing Company; vice-president, United Hagie Hybrids. Soil district commissioner 1946 to 1958. Past president of state advisory committee on extension. Past president of Clarion Rotary Club and of Clarion Development Commission. Director Wright County State Bank. Helped organize the Iowa Association of Soil District Commissioners. Member Farm Bureau, Adelante and Gamma Sigma Delta Fraternity, Iowa Crop Improvement Association, and American Seed Trade Association. Married June Remington November 4, 1935. Three children: John, married, attended Iowa State University, manages Hagie farms; Margaret, married, graduate of Drake University; and Kathryn, married, a graduate of University of Iowa. Deacon of Congregational Church, Clarion. Two terms in house, first in senate.
