Born in Avon, S.D., June 18, 1924. Attended rural grade school, graduated from Avon High School, B.S.E.E. South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, 1949. M.S.E.E. University of Illinois, 1950. Married Betty Reynolds, 1950. Five children: Jo Anna, Thomas, Jon, Sara and Mary. Served in Air Force, 1943-46, 1951-52. Farmer, one year, high school teacher, one year. Product engineer with John Deere for 28 years. Member, Valley View Baptist Church. Cedar Falls Chamber of Commerce, past president of board of directors. Member of board of directors of Hawkeye Institute of Technology for 16 years - two years as president. Member of the board of the Cedar Falls Historical Society and the board of the Opportunity Industrialization Center. First term.
