Born in 1805, in Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois. On July 13, 1827, he married Rachel Roberts in Hillsboro, Montgomery County, Illinois. Mr. Kirkpatrick served in the Black Hawk War from 1831 to 1832 in Illinois. He relocated to Iowa sometime after the war. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a delegate to the 1844 Iowa Constitutional Convention and also served as a Councilor in the Third and Fourth Legislative Assemblies of the Iowa Territory, representing Jackson County. He moved to Yuba, California by 1852 and his wife Rachel died in Marysville, California in 1859. The census record shows that he lived in Spokane, Washington Territory in 1887. Mr. Kirkpatrick died April 9, 1892, in Eureka, Humboldt, California. Source: Ancestry.com
