Convention Member Daniel Solomon
Daniel Hiram Solomon was born in 1827 in Page, Virginia. He was a graduate of Yale college, class of 1851. He came to Glenwood in 1853 and taught school in a log cabin, being Glenwood’s first school teacher. Being a lawyer by profession, he was engaged in the practice of law for a number of years and was a member of the 1857 Constitutional Convention. He took an active part when the Wabash railroad was built through Mills County, and was attorney for the road for a number of years. The present town of Solomon in the southeast part of the county was named after him, he having a large farm nearby. Solomon lived in St. Louis the last 12 years. He died in Owensboro, Kentucky, July 7, 1902. He was a Democrat in politics.
