Dear Sirs: The EPA makes mistakes. It has no labs of its own and relies on the industries that it regulates to do the testing it requires. A recent NIH research project that our University of Iowa participated in looked at multigenerational effects of traces of glyphosate in Purina rat chow fed to experimental lab animals. (our EPA has never asked for multigenerational testing) No problems were seen in the pregnant parents' generation F0, in the children's generation F1, or the grandchildren's generation F2but in the great grandchildren's generation F3, DNA damage has occurred resulting in a high % (over 40%) of obesity, fatty liver failure, type 2 diabetes, etc. Good soil health, good plant health, good animal health and good human health are all interrelated. We need to slow down the pesticide treadmill and there is plenty of science I can bury you in to make my point. We can farm without overreliance on herbicides like glyphosate. Having a little livestock on most farms and a bigger rotation helped a lot in the past but yes it takes more thought and work. Thanks for listening. Please do not pass this stupid bill that protects firms that do not deserve or need protection. Everything is multifactorial but glyphosate's use favoring the Fusarium mold family increasing mycotoxin risk probably does more economic damage than the loss of people from lymphoma.
