The absurdity of decoupling Iowa tax code from federal tax code regarding deductions for cannabis business expenses shows how deeply corrupted Iowa's legislature has become. This isn't happening just in Iowa. It's a disease that exists in every state that has authorized federal criminal oyet know, but it does not take a genius to know it won't end well. We could be the first state to obtain a federal exemption for our cannabis patients (21 C.F.R. 1307.03) and and a waiver for our cannabis businesses (21 U.S.C. 822(d)), but we'd rather set up these continuing criminal enterprises (21 U.S.C. 848) instead. Crime pays well, and poor people who need this program don't speak as loud as cash.

This isn't happening just in Iowa. It is a disease that exists in every state that has authorized federal criminal organizations to run state cannabis programs. We do not know what the long term effects of promoting crime will be, but it does not take a genius to know it will not end well.
