The 911 Council meetings serve as a critical forum for monthly presentations from various stakeholders, including CISA, the Iowa Communications Network (ICN), 911 mapping vendors, Comtech, the shared Services Vendor, and Zetron. These presentations address pertinent issues that local 911 Coordinators and PSAPs face, promoting transparency within the 911 Program. These meetings are accessible to the public, with videos, minutes, and agendas published on YouTube for constituents and local state PSAPs, ensuring complete transparency. The 911 Council also plays a pivotal role in managing Training/Public Education funds. It oversees theallocation of these funds, which are vital for the ongoing education and training of telecommunicatorsacross the state. Without the council, decisions on training opportunities and Continuing DispatchEducation hours would be significantly affected. The council also votes on fund allocation for speakers at the biyearly conferences for APCO/NENA, providing a crucial training opportunity for dispatchers across the state.
