Citizen Engagement declares IN FAVOR of HSB 633. There are no longer nonpartisan elections at any level. Let the people know officially with which ideology you align.

Yes on HSB 633 I am in support of this legislation. School board elections have become partisan over the last many years. There is many examples of candidates being endorsed by political parties and political organizations. It makes good sense to make it official so that voters are fully informed of whom they are voting for on the ballot by having a designated R or D behind the candidate name.

I am in support of this bill. We all know that these races are partisan, to say they are not is simply not true. In the most recent school board election in my district, at least 2 of 4 candidates promoted by the Democrat party received donations from the Democrat party the other two I am unware as they must not have raised over $1000, so they didn't need to submit an ethics report. In addition, even at the SB forum hosted by the WDM Chamber, they asked a questions, stating the races are nonpartisan but then proceeded to ask a question about endorsements specifically targeting a candidate and an organization; it was highly unprofessional. So we need to stop pretending and give voters who show up at the ballot box on election day an indicator of the party affiliation so they have insight into the candidates who align with their values.
