Susan G. Komen supports SSB 3135, relating to the elimination of cost sharing for medically necessary diagnostic and supplemental imaging. Iowans who are at higher risk of breast cancer or those requiring follow up imaging due to an abnormal mammogram result. An estimated 12 percent of patients who receive annual screening mammograms get called back for diagnostic imaging. SSB 3135 would eliminate this disparity in coverage. In Iowa, over 3,010 women are estimated to be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024 and 370 will die of the disease this year alone. We urge your support for SSB 3135 to eliminate costsharing for medically necessary breast imaging services.
