I support this bill. Parents need to know everything that is going on with their children's health. A parent's lack of knowledge regarding what interventions a child has had could lead to disastrous results in an emergency. It is also important to note that children this age are highly susceptible to peer pressure and do not have the experience to understand what questions to ask about the risks of medication or the maturity to totally understand and evaluate the information. If a child believes they should get these medications against their parents' wishes, there is already a way for them to do that prove to a court that they are mature enough to make their own decisions and become an Emancipated Minor.

I support SF 2064, Minors should not be able to consent to medical treatments without their parents knowledge. They could be unsure or unaware of their medical history including drug allergies, surgeries or medical conditions that could make certain treatments contraindicated. There is also concern that these minors would not be given appropriate information to their understanding so they could make an informed decision.

Parents are the legal authority of their minor aged children. With that, they are legally and financially responsible for them, including their medical decisions.Iowa should prohibit any and all entities from administering any medication including vaccinations to minors without verifiable explicit written parental consent. When a person reaches the age of 18, they can make their own medical decisions. Until then, parents rights must be respected and honored.

Absolute insanity to think that this is acceptable for our teens to be making these decisions independently or for the school to be in charge of their health(sick) care in this way. Shouldnt even have to be addressing this in legislation.

Parents should absolutely need to give consent for their minor children to receive any kind of medical services. There is a legal adult age and until then parents are responsible for their children and need to know what decisions theyre making, especially when it comes to healthcare.

I am in support of this bill. Parents are required to sign a consent to receive a Tylenol at school. It is well understood that there is not a single pharmaceutical product that can be given to every single child without any risk of harm. It seems like common sense that parental consent is needed for a pharmaceutical product to be administered to their child.

I support SF 2064. Parents must be informed and consent to any medical treatment for their minor children. The fourteen amendment of the Constitution protects the fundamental right of parents to direct the care, upbringing, and education of their children. Please vote in favor of this bill.

Concerned parent in support of this bill SF2064. Children of minor age should have the consultation and consent from their parents to receive medical treatments. Parents are the ultimate decision makers until the children are deemed adult to make their own decisions.

I support SF 2064. Children have parents for a reason to protect them and make decisions for their greatest benefit until their brains have had time to fully mature. It is the states job to protect and respect parental authority.

I am in favor of SF204. This bill needs to be moved forward. It is unfair to expect minors to be able to make a life decision such as this one that could potentially have side affects that relate to future fertility and other negative outcomes. Minors do not have the ability to represent themselves well in legal battles should there be a negative outcome. On top of that Iowa needs to recognize parental rights over the initiatives of Pharmaceutical companies. Iowa should have a similar stance as the federal laws on this issue which states that parents must receive the Vaccine information statement and provide consent for all vaccines on the childhood schedule. Both HPV and HepB are on the childhood schedule. I am confused as to why we are debating parental rights here in our lovely state. Thank you for moving this bill forward.

I am in favor of SF2064. Parental transparency and informed consent is fundamental in both ethics and law. Parents have the right to receive information and ask questions about recommended treatments so that they can make well informed decision about their childrens health. According to the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act that was signed into law in 1986 parents must receive a vaccine statement and provide consent for any vaccination on the childhood schedule. Both Hep B and HPV are on the childhood schedule.

I support this bill. Parents are the ultimate caregivers of their children and must be informed to give consent for a child. Why would a child be able to give consent to a vaccine but cant to piercings and tattoos? This is common sense legislation and I didnt realize children were allowed to make medical decisions about vaccines. Thanks for those who authored this bill to bring transparency to this issue.

I'm writing in support of this bill. Parents' rights should be protected and they have been entrusted with their child's wellbeing. Parents should be making the decisions regarding vaccinations for their children. This is essential, especially when said treatment has risks to it and could lead to life changing injury.

I support this bill. The amount of pressure that an adult receives in the doctors office during their child's sports physical to consent to these vaccines can be difficult to deal with even after doing the research and making the decision that the HPV and the HepB vaccine may not be what's best for their child. I was very surprised when I learned this was happening in Iowa in violation to federal law. A minor should never be put in that position.

I don't think any vaccine should be given to a minor without parental consent. This includes the horrific COVID19 jab.

I support this bill. Parents should be the ones making this decision.
