Angela Van Pelt[Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman]
Residents and family members may request electronic monitoring devices to help determine that residents are receiving appropriate care and being treated with dignity and respect, or to be a deterrent to abuse. Given the ongoing concerns with qualityofcare issues in facilities that increased with COVID19 and continue years later, this may provide a level of comfort and reassurance to residents and their loved ones. The Office of the State LongTerm Care Ombudsman is supportive of electronic monitoring in nursing facilities at the resident request and with adequate privacy provisions for residents that do not want electronic monitoring, which this bill does.
