State funding should not go to crisis pregnancy centers. These centers are not legitimate healthcare organizations, and are not required to observe HIPAA or have skilled medical staff. It would be a waste of state funding to give money to these centers. Pregnant Iowans deserve actual health care instead!

It is a gross appropriation of state funds to funnel money into crisis pregnancy centers. The Alliance: State Advocates for Women's Rights and Gender Equality summarizes the CPC mission and their threat to reproductive health care well: "The contemporary CPC industry is a nationwide, governmentfunded, digitally sophisticated network that targets lowincome pregnant people who may or may not be considering abortion, collects their sensitive medical and personal information, and feeds it to antiabortion organizations that store big data without clear privacy protections."Please consult their brief on CPCs and surveillance here: https://alliancestateadvocates.org/wpcontent/uploads/sites/107/AllianceCPCReportFeb2022UrgentBrief21022.pdf Stop funding CPCs. Fund *real* health care effortsfor example, efforts to reduce maternal mortality and its disproportionate impact on communities of color, efforts to ensure that rural hospitals and labor/delivery wards stay open, and efforts to affirm the rights of trans youth to appropriate medical care.

Crisis pregnancy centers, which really need to be called antiabortion centers, do not provide scientifically researched medical care. Anyone working there is not required to have any sort of education or background in medical training. In addition, they will purposely lie to a pregnant person about how far along their pregnancy is so the person believes they have no options. These centers are predatory and are not bound by privacy laws such as HIPPA. Antiabortion centers have already put many Iowan lives in danger and should not receive any funding from the state.

CPCs are not viable Healthcare centers. At all. Continuing to provide funding to these places would be a gross misuse of government, and therefore, public, funds. Rather than funding CPCs, provide funding to real clinics, public schools, or practically any other social welfare existing at the moment.

Crisis Pregnancy Centers are not legitimate health care centers and dilute funding needed for actual health care for women. Iowa should not be funding these centers. Planned Parenthood and places like the Emma Goldman Clinic provide vital health care. EGC is where I received checkups when I didn't have insurance and where I confirmed both of the pregnancies that resulted in my beautiful children. This health care is vital to Iowans. CPCs are not bound to the same standards.

I really don't want my tax money going to the type of clinic I walked into when I was 19 years old. The clinic I went to was a sham. They lied to me about basic reproductive and sexual healthcare, there were no real medical providers, they shamed me for getting pregnant and not having a plan. I was 19!!! I was so going and scared and this place was a horrible experience. Why are we even thinking about supporting these crisis pregnancy centers? We HAVE real healthcare solutions that have be PROVEN to work. We should be putting money into places we know work. NOT places that are designed to manipulate.

People need access to quality health care and it seems you are working to take the lack of health care people have completely away! Crisis Pregnancy Centers have fake doctors, use deceiving information to force people to give birth, don't follow HIPAA regulations, and take advantage of underprivilege people who desperately need access to health care. They are a joke, and you are trying to use people's tax money to pay for these places? And now, you are even trying to reduce regulations so more people get tricked? Instead of wasting your time and our money in advocating for fake health care, why don't you focus on maternal health, bringing more OBGYNs into the State, or provide quality sexeducation? Please vote AGAINST this bill that the only thing it does is wasting our money, and destroying people's lives by taking away their health care choices. Stop harming Iowans and their reproductive rights!

This is an absolute misappropriation of public funds. These are funds for the people of the state of Iowa and should be used for moving the state forward, not backwards. These are not true medical clinics and do not follow accurate medical protocols. Let them raise their own money to fund the fake clinics. If they cant raise enough money on their own then they should close the clinics.

Pregnancy support centers SHOULD NOT GET FUNDING FROM IOWA TAXPAYERS and should be shut down for misleading the public. These centers are deceptive as they mimic true clinics and advertise with misleading and false information. These centers are not required to follow HIPPA and share data about the people that seek their services.Pregnancy support centers do not offer accurate medical advice or have licensed medical personnel that provide counseling or healthcare services. The one mission of these centers is to coerce people into maintaining their pregnancies with promises of continued support and care during and after birth. This care is limited and generally disappears once a pregnant person is past the point of having an abortion. Iowans need support (from legitimate, trusted medical personnel) for their decisions on reproductive healthcare and support when they determine it is time for them to become parents. Iowans need accurate and trusted medical care from licensed medical personnel. ABORTION IS HEALTHCARE and Iowans deserve access to privacy in their healthcare decisions.

I object to state tax payer funds being used to support these sham MOMS clinics. They lie to woman; they are not staffed by trained medical personnel and they provide misinformation. The state has failed to find an appropriate admintrator to oversee their functioning. These sham clinics are bad for women and bad for Iowa.

Public funds should not be going to these centers. They are not subject to the same rules as centers that offer real healthcare and dilute funding that can actually help women. These centers are a sham and should not receive tax payer money to push an antiabortion agenda.

We founded a pregnancy resource center in our rural community. We are serving without regard to income, religion, race, marital status dozens of young families who need a boost. A pregnancy center we refer women to is Christian based. They provide medical ultrasounds the machine purchased with private donations to women free of charge. Educating pregnant women about a pregnancy, heartbeat, health issues and the importance of having proper medical supervision during a pregnancy are important. Many women don't want to walk into a Planned Parenthood. PP uses income guidelines and charges a fee. They don't provide an ultrasound nor help set up doctor appointments for prenatal visits during the pregnancy. Crisis pregnancy centers offer a variety of services and referrals free to women in need. The services we offer in these centers range from providing pregnancy tests to assisting with transportation to the doctor appointments during pregnancy. 2024 is a new world, many comments may reflect decades old visits to other centers. Currently, no religious testing is used. We offer help to couples or singles seeking STD testing, counseling on options in an unplanned pregnancy. The only thing we don't provide is an abortion. We tell patients exactly what an abortion is medically so they are fully informed. Education is imperative for informed patient decisions. CPC fill important void in our communities. Please move this bill forward in Iowa so we can continue to support our citizens with accurate and science based education.

I recommend you read the following researched article from the American Medical Association's on CPCs. It's worth a read.https://journalofethics.amaassn.org/article/whycrisispregnancycentersarelegalunethical/201803?utmsource=silverchairjoe&utmcampaign=marketing&utmcontent=ethicsinthenews&cmp=1&utmmedium=emailPersonally, I prefer to keep my healthcare decisions between myself and my physician who went to medical school, who has studied the science, who will provide me ALL of my options so I can make an informed decision, even if my decision might not be their choice. I do not support the bill re: these "maternal health centers." We only put women's lives at risk, especially if they are already high risk. There is a reason why our younger physicians are looking to leave our State and another reason why were are pretty much dead last in Ob/Gyn care in the state. This isn't going to help.
