It would be helpful if the legislators who support HJR 4 would provide specific examples of how they want the Article V Convention to "limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government." Providing detailed examples would help Iowa citizens to know whether they want their legislators to support this measure or not.

These days everyone is talking about a national divorce. With red states and blue states saying it is needed. Counties in some blue states want to divorce their state and join with red states. A national divorce would be disastrous for our nation as a whole. Let us remember both the American revolution and the civil war were national divorces of sorts. We are here again at this inflection point because we no longer have the balance of power the framers of the constitution had devised and codified in the constitution. The state sovereignty and people's selfgovernance have been stripped away over time by Supreme Court rulings. It seems to me that we should consider a national conversation before we pursue a national divorce. Our founders gave us Article V of the constitution for this occasion. A Convention of States is that national conversation that we need to have to determine will we keep allowing the Federal Government to centralize power and rule the country centrally with the states taking on the role of administrator and enforcement or will we put some restriction on the federal government and maintain a balance of power to the states and the people. I think before we get to the point of a national divorce that will weaken our country and embolden our enemies here and abroad we should strive for the national conversation. I hope you will support HJR4 Convention of States as it allows for that national conversation. Inaction will embolden our enemies who are calling for a national divorce to weaken us or destroy us all together as they pit us against each other in the hopes of a national divorce. Please help us have this national conversation. George Caron
