Will we be like Germany in the early 1930s and fail to act to prevent tyranny and evil! We the People of Iowa and our state legislators will be asked to consider a need for our state to join the other 19 states that have called for a Convention of States to put some restrictions on the federal government and arrest the progress of tyranny imposed on the citizens and the state of Iowa. I just finished Eric Metaxas book Letter to the American Church, and it is easy to use some of his analogy as to the inaction by many in the German church not to arrest the progress of Hitler and the Nazi movement. Erics argues that the American Church is at the same inflection point as the German Church was in the early 1930s. I would argue that We the People and the States are similarly at the same inflection point regarding the possible action to prevent the total collapse of our constitutional liberties. Will we in 2023 heed the warning of Bonhoeffer and Eric Metaxas and act to rein in this outofcontrol federal government. Meanwhile as we plunge head long into further depravity and corruption, we must recognize our national elected leaders have been unwilling or unable to stem the tide of tyranny. It is easy to gleam onto the fear they peddle as it requires nothing of us. This kind of fear and apathy we have today is where Germany was in the early 1930s. Bonhoeffer then was trying to warn the people and the church of their failure to recognize, speak and act against evil in Germany prior to Hitler taking power, and now Eric Metaxas argues Bonhoeffer is speaking to us as well thru the Letter to the American Church. Will we heed Bible verse Galatians 5:1 For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery.Nearly all the grievance put forth by conservatives in the Republican platform could be solved with a Convention of States that is designed to limit the power and scope of the federal government. I find it hard to reason why any of our elected state representatives would oppose a convention of states given the level of tyranny imposed on the citizens of Iowa the last two year. The states were given the power to intervene when the federal government exceeds it authority under the constitution. Our founders put Article V in the constitution as a safeguard against an abusive federal government. Many of us have watched our federal institutions fall and become institutions of tyranny and as they did last year the citizens and state legislators of 4 more states heeded the call for a convention of states to limit the power and scope of the federal government. What will be the consequences of our inaction? Could we suffer a similar fate as Germany in the 1930s or worse. God gave us thru the founders the constitution and the ordinance known as Article V, To our opponents this Article V ordinance is foolishness. Fearing the use of the constitution when it gives the People and the States the power instead of the elites. Are we the same as the person given one talent and afraid to invest it, not trusting that through God all things are possible? Instead, do they listen to the accuser who uses half truths and lies to keep us in fear, this is the same fear the accuser used in Germany as the Nazis were coming to power? 2 Timothy 1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and selfcontrol. Can we not hear the voices of Gods people Steve Deace, Mark Levin, Kirk Cameron, David Barton, Rob Mc Coy, Michael Farris, Tucker Carlson, Charlie Kirk, Ben Shapiro, and many more all calling us to action or will we listen to the accuser and cower in fear. Eric Metaxas says Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act. God will not hold us guiltless. An Article V convention of states requires Action, effort, discernment, time, money, sacrifice and courage and relying not on our ability or righteousness, but trusting in Gods Providence and relying on him to provide all that is needed. Fear requires nothing of you except to put on the yoke of slavery. Will we repent, act, and call on God to grant us the ability to remain the Free State of Iowa? I appeal to Heaven that God will open the eyes and ears of my fellow Iowans and state leaders and stir up in them a call to action. Thank you for your consideration, George Caron
