I respectfully request voting no on this bill to consolidate AEAs in the state. This would hurt special needs kids like my son. If the AEAs, are grouped into bigger areas if could delay interventions such as PT, OT or speech. The reality is that the same amount of staff will be required but will be just be traveling more being paid for their mileage by the state. And with all the travel, there will be less time to spend helping students. Also, as a physician, consolidated of services would be harmful to the early access program that physician utilize with children with developmental delay as babies until age 3 which offers therapies in the home for early intervention.
