TechNet must oppose HSB 687 on behalf of its membership. TechNet wishes to avoid a state patchwork of laws that cannot fully address the issue of organized retail theft, and encourages the Iowa legislature to consider other options that can effectively address organized retail theft, such as the task forces that have been implemented recently in several other states. Additionally, as our attached letter details, the federal H.R. 5502 has passed the U.S. House as part of the America Competes package, and is likely to become federal law. TechNet supports a federal standard on this issue, and our letter provides greater detail on our position.
