The American Lung Association and the Iowa Tobacco Prevention Alliance oppose amendment H1335. The devices specified in this legislation are sold by tobacco retailers, so they should not be taxed at a lower rate than other tobacco products. Maintaining the original proposed rate of 40 percent ensures the tax on these devices is closer to the tax rate of tobacco products sold within the same retailers (which is 50 percent).
