The Humane Society of the United States and our coalition of animal welfare organizations that serve virtually every corner of the state of Iowa strongly support Senate File 143. Experts agree that breedspecific legislation (BSL) and similar policies that restrict dogs based on appearance do not reduce dog bites in communities or enhance public safety.
