Rep. Holt, Klein, and Steckman,Please do not pass HSB 116 out of the subcommittee. I believe gun and ammunition manufacturers, and sellers, should be liable when they recklessly advertise and promote their products. I am a member of Iowans for Gun Safety and we always advocate for public safety.Thank you.

The United Methodist Church is declared opposed to this bill. While we applaud the requirement that firearm manufacturers, etc. be legally licensed and liable for damages due to defects, we are most concerned with the ramifications of 683.2 and 683.3 for gun violence survivors and their families in the midst of the ways lethal weapons are marketed and promoted to the general public for sale. Our concern is for people, not guns.

Connie Ryan [lnterfaith Alliance of Iowa]
Interfaith Alliance of Iowa is opposed to the legislation as it ties the hands of the public for legitimate legal actions that may arise in the future against those who manufacture, distribute, sell, etc. Iowans should be able to bring legal action when an entity has been negligent, regardless of the circumstances. Thank you.
