Tom Chapman [Iowa Catholic Conference]
The Iowa Catholic Conference is the public policy agency of the Catholic bishops of Iowa. The ICC is registered in support of SSB 1030. The Church and Catholic Charities have always been supportive of the adoption process and helping all of the parties involved in that process. It can a beautiful choice for people. We want to thank the legislators for considering this bill. Adoption is a difficult enough process already, and this bill puts the best interest of the child first. We have a question about subsection 3, Page 1, line 14. This is a change from previous versions of the bill. It looks like the legislation is not trying to create a new right just trying to figure out what you have in mind here.
