While I appreciate the willingness to bring forth changes to disability policy, this bill does not go far enough to making meaningful change and allow people with disabilities to advance their career, save for retirement, or even get married. The standard of 250% of the federal poverty limit has been in place for far too long and increasing to 300%, or the equivalent to $8000 a year does not incentivize Iowans with disabilities to advance their career or remain in the workforce which Iowa desperately needs. Please set up a tiered system to steadily increase the income cap and monitor the cost to the state. Set up a system that will keep this workforce in Iowa and signal to people with disabilities that so long as the cost isnt exorbitant that increases to the limits are coming. Other states have eliminated income and asset limits and not seen the cost that Iowa seems to be worried about.
