HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment) is listed as a 'definitive treatment' for blast wave TBI's, as cited in The 1990 Textbook of Military Medicine. However, 35 years later, Veterans still do not have access to this treatment by way of the Nat'l Dept. of Vet.Affairs! To date, 13 states have enacted legislation to allow access to effective protocols of HBOT. This Bill would allow Iowa to be #14. This treatment, in FDAapproved hardsided chambers, has been proven to significantly heal invisible, yet physical, brain wounds and significantly lessen symptoms. (67% of Vets treated have been able to wean off their multiple medicationsof which ALL cite "Suicidal Ideation" as a side effect! HBOT has been proven, with over 28 clinical medical trials and studies, to be safe, efficient and effective to help heal TBI/PTSD Veterans and restore multiple aspects of their lives and relationships. HBOT can be provided at a cost of 1/2 of 1% that of a lifetime of pharmaceuticals. Please pass HF2481.
