This bill is vague. Will this bill allow representatives to redact their names from legislation or votes?Do not pass this forward without serious amendments.Opposed.

Oppose. It appears that public officials could avoid transparency in their public acts.

OPPOSED. What are Legislators trying to hide by doing this? What about transparency? This is a garbage bill, from a taxpayers viewpoint. Please vote NO.

Opposed. There needs to be transparency in what our law makers are doing. Why do you feel the need to be sneaky and secretive?

Please vote no. The taxpayers who elect public officials and pay their salaries, deserve to know how their representatives vote. We need transparency.

Vote No. Why do you want to hide what youre supporting or signing? Maybe you shouldnt support it if youre afraid it will be public.

I strongly oppose House File 2427. This bill expands special treatment for politicians by allowing U.S. Senators, members of Congress, statewide elected officials, state legislators, and local partisan officials to have their names redacted from public records. Public office is a position of trust. Shielding elected officials from transparency undermines accountability and creates a twotiered system where those in power receive protections not available to the public they serve.Current law appropriately protects law enforcement and judicial officials facing legitimate safety risks. Expanding this privilege to politicians is unnecessary and erodes open government principles. Iowans deserve transparency from their elected leaders, not secrecy. Vote no on HF 2427.

Opposed. There needs to be transparency by those who are elected to represent us. This is unacceptable.

I am opposed to this bill. There is no reason for all state and local elected officials to be able to redact their names. After all, all of these people were elected and are paid by us and we should have transparency on what is being done. The law already approximately shields law enforcement and judicial members as they could have legitimate safety concerns. The very fact that this bill is being considered makes one wonder what our elected officials are doing or want to do that they don't want us to know about.

OPPOSED. This bill violates state and federal law, does not benefit the state, and addresses no problem. Serve the people transparently or not at all.

If you don't want your name associated with documents, maybe you should be voting for you constituents instead of Americans for Prosperity more often.
