I have an acquaintance who had to change her name. This bill sounds like a useful improvement to the process.

As a woman who has been divorced and took back my maiden name, I am very much in support of this being allowed. The state has no idea of the reasons a woman might desire, or need, to take back her maiden name or her prior name if different from her maiden name.

So are you saying if I get divorced this bill gives my Husband the right to change MY name?????I do not support bills that take away autonomy for any person.

Why does the GOP attack women in every form it can. No one but the individual involved should decide what a person's name is. Yet another way for abusive men to attack their exes.
