Thank you for this bill HF 2287 and please vote YES. What products do we allow to be sold to Iowans that the manufacturers have legal immunity for and NO liability for when they maim or kill Iowans? As far as I am aware, only vaccines. This is wrong. If a manufacturer has no liability for their product its license to literally kill. They have no incentive to make the product safe. Since 1986 when vaccine manufacturers were given legal immunity for their products, theyve rushed many vaccines to market. We will never know the full count of lives lost to these products but if you ask around, there are hundreds of Iowan families who have lost a loved one to a vaccine. A 2011 Harvard Health study (attached) found that less than 1% of vaccine adverse events including death, are reported to VAERS.

Vote NO. This is bad for Iowa.I am a medical student and Navy Veteran. I have administered hundreds of not thousands of vaccines to my Sailors and Marines during my service, and have continued my scientific and medical education since then. This bill works to supercede the existing mechanism of the vaccine injury compensation program, this VICP already provides for seeking damages. Vaccine manufacturers do not act with impunity, this would not result in greater accountability, it would restrict access to vaccines in Iowa because manufacturers would stop distributing here. That means no international vacation if a vaccine is required for entry to another country. That means more dead children due to preventable disease.Read about how the VICP works before you act so flagrantly misinformed.

Support! If vaccines are 100% safe then why do the companies need the protection? Remove the protection and help to ensure that they manufacture vaccines that are truly safe and do no harm.

SUPPORT. Liability is good for industry because it drives consumer trust, innovation, and competition. The current Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) has been found inadequate (1)(2). Opposed to HF 2287This bill does nothing but throw open the doors for frivolous lawsuits against manufacturers, drugstores and medical providers. This is a gift to antivaxers. The people of Iowa want common sense back in our legislators, not these worthless, uneducated, antiscience culture wars. Do your jobs for once! It is proven over decades that vaccines save lives.

I OPPOSE THIS BILL because it would do more harm then good. Pharmaceuticals companies will not feel any repercussions from this bill but the people of Iowa will. Measles is on an All time high and this bill can skyrocket cases. If you care about Iowa, DONT PASS HF 2287.

I oppose this bill. We need to be encouraging people to get vaccines to keep our population safe. Especially in Iowa, where cancer rates are so high which means we have a lot of immunocompromised people whose lives are even more at risk.

OPPOSE HF 2287! This would just open the door to frivolous lawsuits which we have too much of already. Passing this bill would only benefit the antivacers and penalize the rest of us. There's already a serious measles outbreak in America. Do we really want to bring back whooping cough, chicken pox or maybe even polio? Vaccines helped us almost erricate these childhood diseases. Why make it harder for Iowans to protect their children?!

I strenuously OPPOSE this bill. Vaccines have a proven track record and have saved millions at a minimum from suffering and death. Vaccines are and have been treated seriously and do not need nonmedical, nonscientific interference to set back individual, community, and human health decades or worse.Every action contains risk. Traversing the sidewalk has risk, as does stepping into the bathtub. So yes, taking a vaccine has risk. A risk significantly less than the risk of contracting and dealing with the outcomes of diseases. Unless you want a less populous, less healthy community, and all that comes with it, please reject this bill.

Opposed to dropping vaccine requirements. This is public health safety, used to protect all Iowans and Americans and should not be flippantly dismissed.

I oppose HF2287Vaccines save lives and should not be optional. Maybe get those school vouchers for totally unvaccinated kids to attend totally unvaccinated schools. Then maybe you legislators will believe the science when entire school populations experience epidemics of diseases that are preventable with vaccines.

I support HF 2287. I was born in early 80s and received my kindergarten vaccines in the mid 80s. My life changed as I had migraines daily, stomach pain, and autoimmune issues the rest of my life. My family doctor and neurologist ultimately concluded that the vaccines were at fault, but they didn't know how to handle that new situation. VAERS was not around until 1990 so no report was made and it was after the 1986 Act so I had no remedy to the lifelong effects I would suffer. The monetary toll that it took on my parents to help their suffering child was certainly a burden and has continued to be a challenge for myself as an adult, but I have no recourse. Vaccinations have listed adverse events, but when one happens there is little to no remedy for the person who is affected. Please support this bill.

As a healthcare worker for over 40 years I oppose vaccine waivers. Many of these diseases will come back that we have eradicated and overburden an already failing health system. Vaccines work when the majority of people have them to protect those who cannot have them or are too young to receive and also the people who are immune compromised. Leave healthcare decisions to trained professionals who know the science behind vaccines.

How many Iowa children do you want to die? Thats what will happen if this bill is passed. Im old enough to remember the severity of childhood diseases. My sister almost died of whooping cough because our father didnt want her vaccinated. Those parents who dont want their children vaccinated can keep them home and home school them. If children are to attend public schools they must be vaccinated with very few exceptions. Where are the doctors and disease experts in this bill? Stop throwing useless bills at us and start actually trying to help Iowans!

Are you really trying to take us back to Dark Ages? That's what this legislation will do. Vaccines are for the good of the publicjust like roads. God forbid we might put others before ourselves. When kids start dying of diseases that were preventable I don't want people crying they didn't know better. You made a choice you live with the consequences. And if you're one of those people that choose to not vaccinate and you end up causing the death of another child, you deserve a special place in...

I support HF 2287 because Iowans deserve fairness and accountability. When someone is harmed, they should have the ability to seek justice, and no company should be completely shielded from responsibility. The current federal vaccine compensation program is not a good solution for many families, as it can be limited and difficult to navigate. HF 2287 helps ensure manufacturers stand behind the safety of their products and strengthens public trust through greater accountability.

I strongly oppose House File 2287. By requiring manufacturers to waive protections under the federal National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, this bill would effectively ban vaccines in Iowa. No manufacturer will accept unlimited liability in a single state. The result will be fewer or no vaccines available to Iowans. The current federal system already provides a nofault process to compensate the rare cases of vaccine injury while ensuring a stable vaccine supply. This bill undermines that balance and invites costly litigation that will drive manufacturers away.Fewer vaccines mean more outbreaks, more hospitalizations, and more preventable deaths, especially for infants, seniors, and immunocompromised Iowans who depend on community immunity. HF 2287 is reckless and dangerous to public health. It must be rejected.

I strongly oppose this bill. As a mother who struggled to find COVID vaccines for my children, I worry what this would do to vaccine access in Iowa. I shouldn't have to travel to the border to keep my children safe.

I support this bill to hold manufacturers liable for the harms their products cause. My daughter was injured by vaccines as an adult. Her case in the VICP was denied despite the fact that her health changed dramatically shortly after vaccines and there was nothing else that happened then. She is now disabled. No product should be given protection from liability, even if it were proven to be less than a 1 in a million chance of it causing harm. (Not the case for vaccines, sadly.) There is absolutely no excuse for allowing a liabilityfree product to be sold to unsuspecting Iowans. When this law is enacted, the pharmaceutical companies will either agree to having liability for their products, or forever prove that their products are clearly far from safe by refusing to sell in our state.

I oppose this bill. Children will die from diseases what were previously under control. Public health is important and this bill would destroy it.

I do not support this. This will cause undue harm to children and the state of Iowa and to the United States as a whole.

I'm OPPOSED to this bill. Public health involves vaccinating children and adults, so that we can eradicate dangerous diseases. It also prevents children and adults from dying, when we have vaccines available to prevent this. Please vote NO.

OPPOSED. There is already a fund for vaccine damages that all the pharmaceutical manufacturers pay into. The overwhelming benefit of scientifically produced vaccines in this century saves innumerable lives and are destined to provide cancer cures. If these manufacturers cannot freely research and invest I these new cures, the whole world will suffer. Not just Iowa.

The GOP has gone nuts. Of all the problems Iowa has, this is what you care about. Carrying guns on buses and on school grounds. Shame on you!

GOP stands for Government Opposed to Prevention (of diseases). All you need to do to protect yourself from germs is snort cocaine off a toilet lid like RFK, Jr. Stupid is as stupid does. This is the way that the GOP plans on eliminating vaccines because it knows that companies do not make a profit off of vaccines and if they eliminate the protection from frivolous lawsuits and eliminate the vaccine board, they in effect eliminate vaccines. If you want to be stupid and not vaccinate, fine; but don't eliminate my right to protect myself. The GOP wants to take us back to the 1850s where my great, great, great grandmother lost her husband and two children to an infectious disease.

I oppose this bill. Vaccinations are needed to keep our kids safe. Stop using the health and wellness of children and families to promote your political agenda.

This is a fantastic bill and I SUPPORT this. All products, that I know of, are liable for any damages or injuries their products cause others EXCEPT for vaccines! Of all products that we want to be sure are safe, THIS is the one that should be most safe! We inject these into babies and children of all ages! Who would not want to be sure the products injected are safe? I know of so many people (my own family included) who were permanently injured and even died from vaccines. Their families have been left with life long financial issues because of it (it is really hard to get the government to pay for it), and meanwhile, vaccine manufacturers have made massive profits yet have not had to do anything about the injuries their products caused. If there were liability for injuries, vaccine companies would make safer products. If their products are "safe", the manufacturers have nothing to worry about.

As a mother and a public health professional, I do not support this bill. This would remove access to lifesaving vaccines for children living in Iowa, and further alienate health professionals still providing care in our State. We're seeing right now in South Carolina what happens when we introduce a vaccine preventable disease in a population with low vaccination rates, and we don't have the healthcare capacity to handle those kinds of outbreaks here in Iowa. Additionally, children have the right to be healthy. We have the tools to prevent disease. We owe it to our children to maintain Iowa's strong culture of immunization.

I support this Bill HF 2287! Manufacture's have to be liable. What other industry can produce a product and not be liable for their product? Cars have have recalls, you can even sue McDonald's for HOT Coffee. But something that is injected into your body can not be subject to liability? How many products and vaccines have been pulled from the shelves over the last several decades to find out they were harmful. But first stated safe and effective. There is no one size fits all. Even Blood pressure medicine is catered to your weight. How can 1 injection be enough for one person, too much for another? There is no 1 size fits all in vaccines. Many people have food allergies/sensitivies. Clearly their body isn't the same as someone who doesn't experience those allergies. Their body's are different. Again if they were safe then there wouldn't be any issue with having them be liable.

Vote No on HF 2287. While I understand the incorrect desire to not participate in vaccination and freeload off of the herd immunity everyone else has, preventing me from getting my shots by making it impossible for vaccines to be distributed in this state is not only evil, it will completely tank our economy as anybody with a brain leaves and everyone left is sick.
