Please vote to pass the Convention of States resolution for Iowa. We definitely need term limits on Congressmen. It is not proper to have career politicians. We also need to rein in the Federal bureaucracies and control the Federal budget especially now that we know how much money they lose in waste, fraud and abuse. We as States need to get together and put stronger controls on what they can and cannot do. They will never give up any of their power by themselves. It is up to us as States, acting together, that they will finally have to listen to our voices.

The founding fathers never intended for elected officials to make careers out of holding office. They will not vote for term limits themselves since turkeys dont vote for Thanksgiving. I fully support Convention of States and have for years HJR 2004. The federal bureaucracy has to be reeled in with term limits on house and senate. The original intent was to have citizen legislators and then return back home to work. No intention at all for career politicians which have made a mess of our Republic. We need to make Iowa the 21 State to call for the convention!

The argument to vote out the bad guys and vote in the good guys is no longer the answer. We have tried that. Since our votes are not safe, fair, or transparent, we need to restore our country to its original constitutional intent. I VOTE FOR A CONVENTION OF STATES! If the framers of the Constitution of the United States of America included the provision of Article V in the Constitution, it would be reasonable to assume that there might come a time in our nations history when it would be necessary to implement it. It is evident that such a time as this is upon us. Our government is:Beyond its constitutional boundaries.Out of balance.Overspending and must be reined in.Overtaxing its citizens and isGrowing old, fat, and way too comfortable.We must have term limits, accountability, and a balanced budget requirement.

I fully support the Convention of States and their effort to bring the Federal Government back to its enumerated constitutional responsibilities. There will simply be no other way to make this Government fiscally responsible as has been demonstrated over the last several decades. As a previous Illinois resident, I am shocked that Iowa has not embraced the COS initiative. National bankruptcy is on the horizon. For our nations sake, Iowa needs to be part of the Convention of States.

As a strong supporter of calling an Article V Convention of States, I ask that you please vote YES for HJR2004. While some individuals incorrectly believe this bill calls for a convention to rewrite the constitution, an Article V convention is a convention to propose amendments to the existing constitution, of which there are currently 27. There are two ways to propose amendments congress can propose amendments or the states can. Congress will never propose amendments that restrict themselves, so the states need to exercise their right under Article V to impose federal term limits, fiscal restraint and limiting federal power. HJR2004 only provides for calling the convention allowing the states to come together at the table to solve these problems. The safety net provided in Article V means no proposed amendments from the convention can become law unless 38 state legislatures ratify it making it highly unlikely that radical proposed amendments ultimately become law.

SJR 2004 is the solution to the federal government, and their intrusive tendencies, whether it's abortion, same sex marriage,voting they think they have the divine answer. I disagree with that proposition. It's the states that have the correct answer, not career bureaucrats, ppoliticians, and judges. Our states representatives can't freely govern their state constituents until we safeguard them against the federal government, and this bill will help pave the way for states to work together to address most of the problems we hace today, that the federal government, and foreign lobbyists helped to create.

We have supported the Article V Convention of States movement for several years, and we urge passage of HJR 2004. The framers of our constitution included Article V as a way for the states to propose amendments to the constitution, if necessary. It has become necessary for the states to do so, since the US Congress will not propose any measures to limit its own power and its ability to act in a way that is contrary to the will of a majority of Americans. We the people are in favor of term limits on career politicians, restraining the outofcontrol spending, and reducing the power of the federal government back to the functions that were specifically enumerated for it to have. Any amendments proposed by a convention of states would have to be passed through the usual process of ratification by 38 states. It is time for the state of Iowa to join 20 other states who are calling for a Convention of States to restrain abuse of power in Washington DC. Vote YES for HJR 2004!!
