Jeffrey Anderson [Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church]
We strongly support HSB 629. We believe it would be an environmentally sound option for households and entities like churches to reduce their energy bills through participation in community solar faciliites when installing their own systems might be impractical. Many churches are experiencing signifiant increases in their utility costs, and we believe this would be an option that could allow them to reduce their ongoing utility expenses that would free up their limited resources to be used in ways that further advance their missions. Locating the facilities on land that does not lend itself to other uses would be a "winwin". We would ask you to please support this bill. Thank you

Deaconess Irene DeMaris [Iowa Faith & Climate Network]
Iowa Faith & Climate Network strongly supports HSB 629.Community solar is a practical, environmentally sound solution that would allow households and entities like churches to lower their energy bills by subscribing to a shared local solar project when installing their own systems is not feasible. Many congregations in our state are experiencing significant increases in utility costs. Congregations that cannot afford to install solar panels or replace an aging roof would still be able to participate in and benefit from community solar located elsewhere. This provides a pathway to reduce ongoing expenses and free up limited resources to further their missions and serve their communities.HSB 629 expands energy choice and ensures that renters, low income households, and rural residents are not left behind in the transition to clean energy. Access to affordable, local solar power should not depend on whether you own a suitable roof.We urge you to support HSB 629 and help ensure all I
