Oppose. Guns and ammunition on school property puts students in danger.

I oppose this bill. This is incredibly dangerous to students and school staff.

OPPOSED. I think we have enough school shootings without making it legal to have firearms and/or ammonium on school property. In my opinion, there is no way this makes any sense.

Opposed. Firearms and ammunition don't belong on school premises, regardless of who's carrying them.

Guns do not belong in schools. Enough students have been killed while attending school. Disgruntled students with short tempers, due to lack of maturity, would be able to pull out a gun and kill another student or a teacher. Please vote no.

I strongly oppose House File 621. Our schools must remain safe havens for children, not parking lots where loaded firearms are normalized. This bill weakens longstanding protections by allowing guns on school grounds in vehicles during dropoff, pickup, and deliveries, and by permitting districts to authorize weapons in school vehicles. Expanding the presence of firearms around students increases the risk of accidental discharge, theft, roadrage escalation, and tragic mistakes.Children deserve an environment focused on learning, not one where adults debate who is armed in the parking lot. Law enforcement professionals themselves warn that more guns in crowded, highstress environments create confusion and danger in emergencies. Immediate enactment only heightens concern.Iowa families expect lawmakers to prioritize student safety over political signaling. Vote NO on HF 621 and keep firearms off school property.

I Strongly oppose this bill. Accidents happen, and more guns won't solve gun violence in school. There are too many "what if's" in this bill and a lot of room for interpretation. Please, for the safety of all of our children please do not pass this bill out of Subcommittee.

Opposed How will you control who is in the schools with guns?! How do you limit untrained people who might want to bring a gun on school property? Invest in school resource officers if you want a trained, qualified person with a gun in our schools

Opposed. The only people with guns on school property should be law enforcement.

OPPOSED. OPPOSED. OPPOSED. Why on earth would you want to allow MORE GUNS on school grounds?? Make it make sense without claiming that "they only way to stop a bad person with a gun with a good person." Let's work with facts and data and agree that there is no data to support that claim. So I ask again, make it make sense...in the country with the most school shootings by far. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

I strongly oppose this bill (HF 621). Guns and ammunition in schools are dangerous in so many ways. I never supported teachers having guns, so I cannot support this bill.

I oppose this bill. Having people with firearms on school property would make our schools less safe. The only people that should be allowed are trained police officers.

I oppose HF 621 because it weakens longstanding protections that keep school property gunfree. Allowing firearms in vehicles on school grounds even with a permit increases the risk of theft, accidental discharge, and escalation during highstress moments like dropoff and pickup.Schools should be focused on learning and safety, not expanding access to weapons. There is no clear evidence that more guns on school property make students safer. I urge you to vote no on HF 621 and prioritize policies that truly protect Iowas children.

I oppose this bill. This will put the students and staff at risk.

I strongly oppose this bill. Guns have no place in schools, and would add unnecessary risk for students, teachers, and school staff. I would feel much less safe sending my son to school if guns were allowed on the property.

I cannot believe this is even being brought up for discussion. Schools are meant to teach children and there is no way this will truly provide protection for them. No other country in the world needs this. Why does the United States?

Kris Richey
I am opposed to this bill

Absolutely not! We do not need guns on school grounds. If anything this state needs less guns. Do the right thing and vote NO!

Vote NOwe dont need more guns in more places! More guns only makes more violence. We are one of the only countries in the world with so many mass shootings. There is no such thing as a good guy with a gun, this is a fantasy. VOTE NO!!!

Pass this, and even fewer kids in our schools now will stick around in this state as adults. Should they live that long.
