Citizen Engagement declares IN FAVOR of HF 2218 however the bill should include cameras in all classrooms. Please amend and move the bill.

To ensure the safety of all, students and teachers alike, it is a good idea to have cameras in these classrooms. They should be used for investigative purposes. It is especially important for our students who are nonverbal. They can not always communicate with their parents what may be happening in a classroom but a parent might sense something is off. This might help those parents who are trying to discover what the issue is when the child is unable to tell them.

This bill doesn't even say what is supposed to be done with the recordings, or how long they are to be retained, or for what purpose. Vote No.

OPPOSE. Vote NO on HF 2218. Children in Special Education classrooms have the same right to privacy as all other children. This will be challenged in court to the nth degree. Stop wasting Iowan's tax payer dollars.
