While I appreciate the intent of this legislation and understand the motivation, I am concerned that it is going to apply a onesizefits all approach which is deeply inappropriate. An acquaintance of mine (who would prefer anonymity) grew up in a broken home, and would have had a much healthier childhood and now adulthood if her father had been completely absent. In particular, she would not have been beaten to unconsciousness and would not be dealing with the resulting PTSD.
