To the honorable members of the Subcommittee on SSB 3083:I had submitted comments to the Interim Study Committee on Subacute Mental Health Care Services prior to their meeting on 1/6/26, and was present for the discussion. Here I am attaching here a slightly updated version of those comments, including some additional points that came up during the discussion (p,8)I apologize in advance for the level of detail, but like much of what you must deal with commonly in the legislature, this issue is a complicated one, even for those of us who work in the mental health field, and Im hoping that some of the background and context provided will be helpful in your work on this important legislation. I would be happy to do my best to provide any clarifications or further information that might be helpful.
