I support HSB 605 so that public health departments are required to fully inform the public when discussing vaccinations and the recommendations for them. Public health departments should be unbiased and inform the public fully about vaccine information including the fact that the public has the right to an exemption from them according to Iowa state law. Anytime that a public health department communicates about vaccinations they are opening themselves up to liability for stating all of the law. They should not selectively be able to promote vaccination or mislead the public into believing that vaccines are required when exemptions exist by law. If they do not want to provide full informed consent and information about the law, they should change their name to reflect that they are simply promoting and sponsoring vaccines and pharmaceuticals.
