This bill eliminates restrictions of religious or sectarian materials or courses in education programs. So, why are those restrictions there? It's an easy answer. Public education exists to serve all, to educate without bias, to impart knowledge devoid of any supernatural agenda. Public education MUST remain neutral with regard to religious belief. A violation of this nature is indeed a violation of the separation of church and state. These redactions are nothing more than another attempted foray into public education by Christian Nationalism. In subscribing to this painfully narrow belief system, an adherent is saying, "I'm right and everyone else is wrong" as it applies to belief, or nonbelief. This is unacceptable, and this bill should die a quick death.
