Please do not support this bill. No one is forced to get vaccinated. It only removes choice instead of protecting it. Preventive care is crucial for saving lives and reducing longterm health costs for Iowans and the state.

Vote no on this bill, life saving health care should not be politicized. Removing a minors ability to consent dismantles a critical safeguard of choice for young people in unsafe or abusive homes, where care givers may be the ones blocking access to life saving care. Please vote no to protect our young generations of Iowa!

Please VOTE NO on SF 304. All politicians say that they want to protect children, but they are not doing that with this bill. Besides, Iowa already has one of the highest cancer rates in the country, and if this bill passes, it will only make things worse by denying young people access to a safe and effective vaccine that prevents cancer.VOTE NO on SF 304.

Please vote NO on this bill! If it passes, children could lose access to potentially lifesaving healthcare. Iowa already has high cancer rates, and passing this bill would only worsen the situation. Please, for the sake of Iowa's youth, vote NO!

Vote NO on the HPV Vaccine bill, SF 304. Even minors have a right to protect themselves against sexually transmitted diseases that can cause cancer. Parents do not always have their children's best interests at heart or may not be aware of when their child is in danger. A child may be afraid to be honest with their parents. They shouldn't pay for that with their life.

Young people deserve access to this safe and effective cancerprevention vaccine.Preventive care saves lives and reduces longterm health costs. Please vote against this.

I am writing to express my opposition to this bill. While I recognize the intent to address specific policy concerns, this proposal raises significant issues related to equity, access, and unintended consequences for individuals and communities across Iowa. As written, the bill risks creating barriers for populations who already experience disproportionate challenges, including immigrant communities, lowincome families, rural residents, and those with limited access to resources or services.Policy decisions of this magnitude should be informed by evidence, stakeholder engagement, and a clear understanding of downstream impacts. I am concerned that this bill does not sufficiently account for how implementation may exacerbate existing disparities, strain communitybased systems, or place additional administrative and financial burdens on individuals and organizations without clear public benefit.I respectfully urge the committee to reconsider advancing this legislation in its current form and to instead pursue solutions that are evidencebased, inclusive, and grounded in the lived experiences of Iowans most affected by policy change.Thank you for the opportunity to provide comment.

Please vote yes. Parents have to sign a waiver for ear piercing.

I support this bill. Parents have the ultimate authority and responsibility for their childrens medical decisions under Iowa law, particularly when it involves preventive treatments for sexually transmitted diseases and vaccinations that carry known risks. Current state law allows minors to consent to certain vaccinations without parental knowledge or lawful informed consent, despite federal requirements under the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act that parents receive Vaccine Information Statements. As a result, children in Iowa have received the HPV vaccine without their parents consent, which raises serious concerns if an adverse event were to occur. This bill restores parental rights and ensures informed, lawful consent in medical decisionmaking.

My children BOTH asked me to intervene when the doctor pressured each to accept the HPV. One was 16! My son also refused the shot and asked for a new doctor at age 13 due to doctor pressure. Please vote no on this medication that was not properly tested.

Please vote yes on this bill, the medication that was not properly tested. Minors are not able to say yes to a tattoo, why can a child say yes to a medication that has now proven to have side effects.

Please protect parental rights! Children should not be allowed to make medical decisions on their own. We require parental consent for so many things trampoline park, fluoride treatments, field trips. When you consider the possible side effects of a medical intervention there should absolutely be parental consent required. Are these children being given informed consent? Handed the insert and reading it through? Are they capable or understanding what they are consenting to? Since when are doctors able to make decisions for their patients? Please don't take away an innocent child's right to having a parental advocate!

I support this bill because it reinforces parental involvement and oversight in a minors medical decisions. The bill helps ensure that minors receive appropriate guidance, support, and followup care from parents or guardians while preserving the familys role in significant health decisions. It promotes accountability and informed decisionmaking.

HPV is a disease that can evolve into cancer. This vaccine is saving lives. Voting no on this bill protects a person's choice, voting yes ends it.

Please support SF 304 with a yes vote. Minors should not ever be able to consent to a medical product or procedure. They do not have the experience or wisdom necessary to make a decision about something permanent and that cannot be undone. Vaccines are the only medical products that have a full liability shield and come with a stated risk of permanent disability and death. Parents have the legal, financial, physical, moral and spiritual rights for their childrens upbringing. Please vote yes to protect parental rights and minors from being harmed.

Please vote NO!! Young people deserve access to safe, effective, and preventative health care. Iowa already has the second highest cancer rates in the US. The HPV vaccine gives us power to prevent cervical cancer. Cancer prevention should never be politicized. Bills like these are a facade for politicians inserting themselves in our health care decisions and creating even more barriers. Young people deserve autonomy.

Please vote down this bill. Vaccination from HPV is not a political matter, it is protection from deadly cancer. It goes against what Iowa and the US stands for to restrict the freedom of our young people from access to safe and effective healthcare like the HPV vaccine. Science and health should be driving policy, not conspiracy and control.

I respectfully urge lawmakers to oppose SF 304.This bill creates yet another barrier between young people and timely access to basic health care, including services that are essential for cancer prevention and early intervention. Allowing minors to consent to care for sexually transmitted infections has long been recognized as a public health best practice. It ensures young people seek testing and treatment earlybefore infections spread, worsen, or lead to longterm health consequences.Restricting a minors ability to access STI care does not improve family communication or safety. Instead, it increases the likelihood that young people will delay or avoid care altogether out of fear, stigma, or lack of accessputting their health, and public health more broadly, at risk.STIs such as HPV are directly linked to multiple cancers later in life, including ones that Iowa ranks high in. Policies that discourage early testing, treatment, and prevention efforts undermine decades of public health progress and place unnecessary burdens on young people who are trying to take responsibility for their health.Iowa should be reducing barriers to preventive carenot adding new ones. Please reject SF 304 and protect young peoples access to medically appropriate, timely health services.Thank you for your consideration.

I respectfully request opposition to SF 304. This bill creates a barrier between young people and services that are essential for cancer prevention and early intervention. Allowing minors to consent to care for sexually transmitted infections has long been recognized as a public health best practice. HPV and other sexually transmitted infections are directly linked to multiple cancers and this treatment helps prevent those devastating impacts.

Iowa has the secondhighest cancer rate in the nation. Instead of addressing why cancer rates are rising, politicians are interfering with personal medical decisions that affect lifelong health. The HPV vaccine is a proven way to prevent cervical cancer. Preventive treatments save lives and lower longterm healthcare costs for families and the state. Young people need access to this safe vaccine, which is most effective before engaging in sexual activity. HPV is the cause of over 98% of cervical cancer cases; therefore, early vaccination is crucial. Young people should have the autonomy to make health decisions that affect their lives and futures. Imposing consent laws only creates barriers, making it harder for young people to access necessary healthcare. Cancer prevention should not be politicized. Iowa lawmakers should prioritize policies that keep residents healthy and free from cancer. Vote NO on SF 304!

Please vote NO on SF 304. The HPV vaccine significantly reduces the risk of cervical cancer, and is much more effective if people are able to get vaccinated early, before they are sexually active. The HPV vaccine is safe, effective, and is not forced upon anyone. We should trust our youth to make an informed and educated decision about their health and provide the materials and space necessary for that decision, but ultimately healthcare decisions should only be up to the individual. Children should not be prevented by their parents from getting the vaccine, which will increase their risk of contracting a highly aggressive and extremely lifethreatening form of cancer later in life. The future of our state is better when we empower our youth and encourage them to practice autonomy in safe ways.

Please vote NO to the HPV bill, SF 304! This bill is a huge obstacle to young people making their own decisions about their bodies, health, and future. Even minors deserve access to safe and effective healthcare. Vaccines are a type of preventative care that saves lives and reduces longterm health costs for families and the state of Iowa. In addition, cancer prevention should not be politicized (HPV CANCER) especially when our politicians preach about "protecting our children". The HPV bill does not help or protect anyone. Vaccinations are already not mandatory, and this bill restricts access and makes it more difficult to receive this lifesaving care. VOTE NO on 1/14!

Australia is on track to eradicate the Human Papilloma Virus from their population by 2035. You know why? Not by backing off on scientifically proven strategies to save peoples' lives. That is what this bill is about: life and death. Iowa is not wrong to allow even minors to control their reproductive health. This bill is irresponsible and harmful to youth. This is a nobrainervote NO.

Please pass this common sense bill protecting parental authority and the wellbeing of children from potential complications and side effects. In addition to that this statute currently violates both Federal law under National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act and Iowa code 601.1. This statute needs to be corrected and brought in line with both ensuring parents are given the vaccine information statement and providing consent.

I support SF304. Please vote yes in support of SF304. A minor needs to have a parent consent to any vaccine or medical procedure. A minor needs a parent consent for other things less serious. Who is going to take on responsibility or that minor if there are adverse effects. If they are serious adverse effects there maybe financial, mental and physical burden on the parent. Vaccine is shielded from any liability. Parents are the person who is responsible for a minor. They are to determine if the risk is worth it please vote yes to SF 304 to protect parent rights and keep minors safe.

Vote yes! Parents are the rightful authority over their own children, & NO ONE has the right to try to manipulate or even receive a minors' 'consent,' for anything. Parents are financially, physically, & spiritually responsible for the wellbeing of their children. No one should be able to discuss medical care alone with a minor, & make decisions which the parents will be left out, yet still financially responsible for. Absolute insanity.

Vote yes on SF304. This doesn't prevent children from getting a vaccine, only for the procedure to be kept secret from parents. If any adverse events happen from a medical treatment parents need to be able to know what and why these things are happening for the best medical care of their child.

Please vote yes in support of SF 304. Parents have the ultimate authority in deciding what medical preventions for STD's as outlined in Iowa law 601.1 parents and guardian rights, especially when it pertains to vaccinations that can cause serious side effects and injuries.

Vote no on this bill. It would reduce the availability of a vaccine that can prevent cancer. It also doesn't address parental rights as it leaves in place the ability for a minor to consent to all other services for the treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.

I ask lawmakers to vote no on SF 304. This is yet another barrier between young people seeking basic health care that is essential for early intervention and cancer prevention. Restricting a minor's ability to access reproductive health care does not improve family communication; it increases the likelihood of avoiding care in the long run. HPV is directly linked to multiple cancers, including those for which the state of Iowa leads the nation. Iowa should be reducing barriers to preventive care. Please reject SF 304 to protect young people's access to health care. Thank you.

I respectfully urge lawmakers to oppose SF 304. This bill creates yet another barrier between young people and access to basic health care. As a young person, access to healthcare is essential for me to ensure I am able to get myself care in a timely manner. Allowing me to consent to STI/HPV improves my ability to care for myself and my peers. It empowers me to seek testing early and diminishes stigma I feel around sexual healthcare. Without an ability to consent to care choices about my health are taken out of my hands, in situations of unsafe homes this can be the choice between life and death. Restricting a minors ability to access STI care does not improve family communication or safety. Instead, it increases the likelihood that young people will delay or avoid care altogether out of fear, stigma, or lack of access, putting their health, and public health more broadly, at risk. STIs such as HPV are directly linked to multiple cancers later in life, including ones that Iowa ranks high in. Policies that restrict minor's ability to seek care are not youth centric because they discourage early testing, treatment, and prevention efforts. They undermine decades of public health progress and place unnecessary burdens on myself and other young people who are trying to take responsibility for their health. Iowa should be reducing barriers to preventive care, not adding new ones. Please reject SF 304 and protect young peoples access to medically appropriate, timely health services. Thank you for your consideration.

Vote yes. This is self explanatory. A minor is a minor and under the care of their parents choice while they are a minor. This is a medical intervention that comes with risks including death listed on the packet inserts that a parent must decide if they are willing to take on the risks or not, not the child and not withought parental permission. Permission must be obtained by the school from a parent to even administer Tylenol it is common sense that permission must be obtained by any professional or adult prior to administering vaccines as well. Its not complicated
