Please pass this bill out of committee and get it to the floor for a vote of YES!!!IPERS is in great shape funded at 103%. It is time to equalize all in protected class with the same benefits. Please support those who have given or are currently giving so much to the State of Iowa. Let's take care of those who put their lives on the line and sometimes give the ultimate sacrifice, by taking care of them and their families. The stress and mental things that come with seeing and dealing with things that most do not have to see needs to be supported and this bill does just that.It takes a special individual to work these jobs. All members of the protected class deal and face the same challenges and should be given equal benefits to members in the class that already have the benefits we are asking to have for everyone. What a great way for the Senate to show unity and support for Iowa by passing this bill as the House did 89 to 0. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.Chief David SchipperPast President Iowa Fire Chiefs AssociationLe Mars, Iowa FireRescue Chief

This is National Police Officer Week. It would be a great showing of the support towards law enforcement it this bill were to be passed and signed on May 15th, the Law Enforcement Memorial Day.

Please pass this bill out of subcommittee as soon as possible. As the wife of a 29 year police officer, I have seen the mental and physical toll waiting to retire has on the officer and their family. Any type of law enforcement job is incredibly demanding on both the family and officer and is not like working a 95 job. The job follows you home no matter how hard the officers tries not to let it. That can be very draining on a family. This legislature claims to back the blue so stand up and show you do by passing this out of subcommittee and Committee and get it to the Governors desk before the end of session.

Please pass this bill as it was written and overwhelmingly passed by the House. It is a necessary bill for equalization of benefits throughout law enforcement in our state. The protection class of IPERS is fully funded and will continue to be according to the actuarial study. The cost to employers is minuscule in comparison to losing experienced employees to other departments for their retirement benefits. Thanks

Mike Kalkwarf [Please support all IPERS protected class employees ]
This bill simply places all IPERS protected class employees under the same retirement benefit calculations. It is good for the state of Iowa now, just as it was last year when it was implemented for the sheriffs and deputies. Please allow this bill to go forward.
