I fully support Iowa HF793 and commend legislators for taking steps to ensure higher standards of safety and trust within our fire service. Firefighterswhether career or volunteerhold positions of deep public trust, often entering homes and interacting with vulnerable populations during times of crisis. Ensuring that individuals convicted of crimes requiring sex offender registration cannot serve in these roles is a necessary and commonsense measure.This legislation strengthens community confidence and protects both the public and our fire service teams. Its not just about legal complianceits about setting a clear standard for who we allow to serve in these critical, hightrust positions.I encourage lawmakers to move HF793 forward. Its a step toward a safer, more accountable emergency response system for all Iowans.
