I strongly oppose the proposed restrictions on purchasing land by the DNR. These regulations unnecessarily limit land access, restricting property rights and economic opportunities for individuals, families, and businesses. Responsible landowners play a crucial role in conservation, economic development, and community growth. Rather than imposing broad restrictions, the focus should be on fair and balanced policies that protect both natural resources and property rights. Overregulation stifles investment and undermines local decisionmaking. I urge policymakers to reject these restrictions and seek solutions that respect both conservation and responsible land ownership.

I strongly oppose HF 714.HF 714 would place unnecessary restrictions on the DNR's efforts to protect and grow our state's public parks, trails, and wildlife areas by prohibiting the Iowa DNR from purchasing land at auction, regardless of the public need or benefit.Public lands benefit all Iowans by providing spaces for hunting, fishing, hiking, birding, and tourism. All of these activities contribute to the quality of life and local economies for so many communities across the State of Iowa. Our public lands also benefit Iowans by serving as carbon sinks (grasslands and woodlands) and improving water quality (like wetlands). The people of Iowa want public land! Do not restrict the Department of Natural Resources' ability to acquire and restore public land for Iowans to use! Vote NO!

I strongly oppose HF 714. Iowa needs protected public lands for the benefit of our ecosystem, the benefit of ecosystems downstream of us, public use and associated income, and so many more reasons. We do not have time to debate the necessity of protecting our environment. Please stop this bill.

Iowa is 49th among the states in percentage of public landsand included in that percentage is our interstate highway rightsofway. Many of our public lands are working for us everyday to clean our water, provide habitat, increase biodiversity, support pollinators, and slow wind erosion. The economic value public land pays us back year after year. The ecological value of public land is never calculated and seldom valued by people looking for shortterm profits. Public lands are cherished by Iowans. This bill takes away the right of Iowans who want that their land be preserved for future generations by the DNR.
